Devil's Food Cake Murder by Joanne Fluke

3.0

More like a 3.5 stars. After the last few outing with baker Hannah, I wasn't sure I'd pick this one up, but I'm glad I did. The townsfolk feel like friends after this many outings. We know the body will be found in, on, or near one of Hannah's baked goods and we know she will pursue the case with the help of Norman, her sister, mother, Lisa and Herb, and try to hide her findings from Mike.

By now readers also expect the love triangle to continue in a status quo. The stagnant relationships between Hannah, Mike and Norman had become a drag, to the point where I was ready to abandon this otherwise tasty cozy series. I won't spoil it, but this book points to a new dynamic, one that has this reader anticipating the next outing.
