This is a really hard one to rate for me, so I'll start by writing my opinion first. I liked the aspect of it being a sort of ode to L.A., and not just the glitz and glamour but the harsh truths and depravities of many people who live there. I also liked how Maeve was a representation of the city. I did find her character to be a little pick-me-girl-ish which IMO is always annoying. I will say that I didn't realise how graphic the book was before I started reading and though the killings were indeed graphic I was very unsettled with the sexual aggression (iykyk). I also didn't like how her feelings for Gideon were what kept her "calm/sane" it felt a bit like male savior trope.
Graphic: Body horror, Rape, Sexual violence, Blood, and Murder
