The Mistletoe Bet
by Maren Moore
This was like a train wreck. I didn't want to finish reading it, but I couldn't help myself.
First, we open with a scene where the main character is being told she's fat by a relative. We then learn she's in vintage Valentino, which I'm pretty damn sure didn't come in plus sizes. This is an issue throughout the entire book.
Then there's the sex writing, which is... not sexy. I'm sorry, but reading about her cervix being bumped just made my vagina clench shut.
The love story part was cute, and I felt like there were a few nods to both Gilmore Girls and Virgin River, two of my favorite shows. But all in all, it just didn't do it for me.
