The Weight of Blood kicked off 2024 on a high note for me. This is the first book I came across from Tiffany D. Jackson and I was happy I did. A fast- paced read, I was hooked on the characters and the mystery surrounding Maddy from the get green. You can definitely feel the Carrie homage, but it's done in a way where you cheer for Maddy and even some of the other characters as the book progresses. The race relations in the book does adds weight to the overall story too. I'm definitely picking up another Tiffany D Jackson book, for me, this was a great read out the gate.
Moderate: Bullying, Gore, and Blood
The book is written in a flashback. You get bits of the story from different character perspectives, newspaper articles and through a true crime podcast/ TV show perspective.
