Loved the fluidity of the MC's gender and that outside of the one (purposeful) queerphobe, everyone else honoured it. It felt genuine and was nicely done. when Sal gets slashed across their side and chest there was no stupidly pointed comments about breasts or the lack of anything, the injury was treated exactly as an injury and body treated as a body. Not to have the secondary sex traits being beat over my head was refreshing and I was never pulled out of the story with needless and pointless descriptions of Sal's body. It was lovely to be seen and to have a character treated and respected as I wish to be seen and respected.
I'm use to the trauma that white Cis het men have written as romance I was suspicious of the love interest, but it also felt genuine, although still have my suspicions due to the above trauma. But the banter was well written and flowed smoothly. Their interacts were enjoyable instead of cringy.
