Nothing Stopped Sophie: The Story of Unshakable Mathematician Sophie Germain
by Cheryl Bardoe, Barbara McClintock
I went into this expecting to be mildly bored but actually really enjoyed it - from the timelessly intriguing illustrations to the lyrical and inspiring story of Sophie Germain, it was a much more vibrant story than I unfairly assumed. I'm still far from a math whiz (or even math lover) but Bardoe makes it hard not to feel moved by the poetic precision of the math all around us that makes our world possible.
