Before I Do by Sophie Cousens

This was (overall) cute. The plot was interesting but the ending went sideways into a bad over-the-top 90s rom-com that spoiled it for me. That “big gesture” scene is also overdone and it’s also supremely unhealthy. Love respects others boundaries and chooses patience over codependency…

SUMMARY: six years ago Audrey stepped into a photo booth and finds the cute guy before her left his pictures. She takes them but leaves hers.

Some weeks (?) later she spots the guy on a subway platform. He recognizes her (as he went back for his photos but found hers instead; which he kept).

They then have the most amazing day together and make plans to see each other tomorrow. They exchange numbers (they write them on their respective photos) and make plans to meet at “their photo booth” the next night.

Except he (Fred) no shows and when Audrey gets out his photo to call him she sees two numbers are smeared so she doesn’t have his number anymore. Le sigh (note: why didn’t she just try dialing all combinations?
