Nine Lives by Peter Swanson
3.0
dark mysterious sad tense fast-paced
Plot or Character Driven: A mix
Strong character development: Complicated
Loveable characters: Yes
Diverse cast of characters: Yes
Flaws of characters a main focus: Yes

Things I liked:
- Most of the main characters were like able and I found myself feeling connected to them easily
- Book was well paced, kept me engaged and didn’t feel like anything was being drawn out
- The twist of who the killer is
- The backstory of the killer is just so devastating it hit me so hard

Things I didn’t like:
- The last chapter. UGH what was the reason
- The focus was more on the characters than trying to find out who the killer was, which is what I originally thought. This isn’t a bad thing it just wasn’t what I was expecting

“Trust me. Things that matter to you don’t matter to anybody else.” (pg. 10)

“Our faces and bodies are only beautiful for a short time. Our bones outlast is.” (pg. 119)

“Life might be the blink of an eye, but he was somehow in it.”

“He’d always wondered what was worse: to feel emptiness and not know what would make it go away, or to feel emptiness and know exactly what was missing.” (pg. 121)

“The awful thing about loneliness is that it isn’t always cured by other people.” (pg. 229)
