Destination Moon by Hergé

5.0

Destination Moon, published from March to September 1950, involves Tintin and Captain Haddock who receive an invitation from Professor Calculus to come to Syldavia, where Calculus is working on a top-secret project in a secure government facility to plan a manned mission to the Moon. Hergé's extensive research into the possibility of human space travel – a feat that had yet to be achieved – is very noticeable and also commendable. His work is as realistic as possible by 1950 standards! I especially loved the detailed explanation of the nuclear fission process. 5 stars just for that. Well done! Looking forward to reading the sequel.

Also, lesser known fact: Destination Moon was also the name of an American technicolor sci-fi movie that released in the same year (1950), but it was based on the 1947 novel Rocket Ship Galileo by Robert A. Heinlein.
