I got this book on a โ€œStuff Your Kindleโ€ day and while I enjoyed certain aspects of the story and think the plot idea was really fun, I found the story to be frustrating at times purely down to the amount of miscommunication that took place between the MC and LI alongside the fact that the MC was just so negative for the majority of the story.

Autumn is a songwriter who struggles to read and write, yet lyrics are the one thing that can come to her without an issue. I loved being able to read the song lyrics that came to Autumnโ€™s mind and I think sheโ€™s incredible, but I struggled to love Autumn herself. As the blurb mentions, sheโ€™s mislabelled ADD and self defined as stupid, that is 100% true, but instead of considering her misdiagnosis, she proceeds to call herself stupid and throw herself a pity party constantly, it was really frustrating to read, especially when Iโ€™ve related to her in some ways. It is okay to be different and to have some sort of learning difficulty, but I donโ€™t think that was portrayed enough within the story; not until the end when she was given a correct diagnosis (that was found online by the way) compared to going to a doctor to confirm it for sureโ€ฆ

Logan was an absolute sweetheart and not that much older than Autumn, but I feel like there was a BIG difference in maturity levels and that while they feel as though theyโ€™re meant to be, I feel that Autumn isnโ€™t right for Logan. Theyโ€™re most definitely at different stages in their lives and while Logan is progressing fast and doing well for himself, Autumn makes it more about her and seems to struggle to trust him despite the fact that heโ€™s barely given her a reason to until she finally gets to see him, AND EVEN THEN SHE DOESNโ€™T COMMUNICATE PROPERLY. I donโ€™t know if it was the minor age gap or what, but the immaturity and how quick they fell for one another just didnโ€™t do it for me.

Despite the negatives,I would like to talk about one thing that made the story enjoyable for me and that was the relationships between band mates and family members. Not everyone has the perfect family or friendship and yet the relationships portrayed within this story were so genuine and lovely that it warmed my heart. Rachel was an ultimate BFF to Autumn and Autumnโ€™ family have a heart of gold! Then the band mates of Loganโ€™s? The way they welcomed Autumn in was wonderful and so kind. It really stood out and made it easier to enjoy.

All in all, I did think about DNFing this story a few times, and while Iโ€™m happy to of finished it, I donโ€™t think it is for me.
