Within the first chapter, I almost DNF’ed due to the talk of suicide, which is triggering for me (I should have read the warnings before I picked up the book so it’s my own fault). I decided to stick with it because the description of depression and suicidal feelings was so well written that it left me wanting to see where the story went.
There were parts that were laugh out loud funny (the wet suits) and parts that made me cry (the cat). I love when a book can do both. But I felt like the story missed the opportunity to be a bit more than what it was. It was all fairly predictable, and based on all the buzz I’ve seen this book getting, I was expecting more.
