I read this because I saw a poster for a book club inside the Celina Public Library and they are meeting just before I have to fly to California for the spring field season. It was very easy to engage with the characters and to feel alongside Clover (and her grandpa) even though she is portrayed as a little odd. I did cry a little at the very end but I also thought throughout the whole book that I've never known anyone in New York City to take a cab as much as they do in books or on TV. I was scared halfway through the book that the story was taking a turn too far into romance but was pleasantly surprised that it didn't end up being too much for me. The story makes me want to attend a death café!
