What We Talk About When We Talk About Love by Raymond Carver

4.0

The title piqued my interest the moment I saw it. I decided to pick this book up, without looking at any reviews or summaries and just dive into it.

To my surprise, it wasn't a romantic mushy collection of short-stories as per the title. Yes, the author talks about love - a different and raw side - infidelity, ending marriages, crimes of passion, the anxious part of loving someone and a lot of darkness that comes associated with the word Love, but without making it seem dark and giving it a slice of life feel.

It had a murakami vibe to it minus the mystic/magical elements. After some research I got to know Mr.Raymond Carver was one of Haruki Murakami's inspirations. Which also led to the latter paying tribute with the title of his book What I talk when I talk about running.

You get hooked and amused by the simple and some not so simple twists it has. Transporting you to a different era. Some of the stories really keep you on toes. Some shocked by the plot twists. Some simply confused with their open ending.
Read it to experience the good old art of storytelling❤️
