Cultish: The Language of Fanaticism by Amanda Montell
informative
reflective
fast-paced
3.5
Less of a history of cults themselves, but instead a primer on identifying cults and high control groups through the medium of language.
Though the text could have been a little less repetitive and there were a couple of points I felt needed further elaboration, the lesson this book teaches is nonetheless extremely important. I had personally always been bothered by thought-terminating cliches but had not previously known there was a term for them!
