Bridget Jones's Diary by Helen Fielding
3.0

I'm not a fan of reading diary or letter books... But.. This was an easy read. Bridget is stuck in that generation between strong feminists and magazine models. I thought she sounded real. Some people didn't like how are records her weight but she states that she is a product of Cosmopolitan Magazines. She is often jumping from one advice to another by friends or magazines. She is viewed as old and un married. That gets to her... But then she tries too hard to not care and falls back to her old ways. She is a mix of confident and unsure. So, she felt real.
It seems like everyone on Goodreads has a healthy relationship with food. But sadly, most people don't. I know too many women trying to not eat or eat less carbs. Or they eat 1500 cal diets just to have a 'cheat day' of 3000. Sadly, this is not a healthy relationship with food. I stuggle too and with ED. But Bridget account of her food made me laugh. It is so ridiculously stupid of her. As a refection: I am ridiculous too.
As for the plot, it is a retelling of Pride and Prejudice. It isn't seen too much in the film but the book screams this plot. Only Lydia is her Mom. So that's modern? ha.
