Gone Girl by Gillian Flynn

3.0

I honestly have no idea how to rate this book. Yes, it was very suspenseful and exciting. But it also put me in the world's worst reading slump ever... and not in a good way! I guess I could fault my mother for ruining a crucial aspect in the overall storyline. But once I hit the middle of the book, that spoiler didn't matter anymore! That's when it got a little bit more interesting! However, I just couldn't get past how unlikeable the characters were! I HATED Nick in the beginning (you'll grow to like him), and don't even get me started on Amy and Go! I also hated the ending! Throughout the book I witnessed the growth of strength in Nick... until it all came crashing down. It was such a disappointment!

I did enjoy how the plot twist came towards the middle of the book! I appreciate that aspect a lot because the author gave us enough time to get our questions answered.. and see the aftermath of it all! Thrillers rarely ever give us a full perspective on the character's lives after the detrimental situation! So having that opportunity was very cool. I just wish the outcome was better! I also enjoyed the detail of the whole "operation" that took place during the story! I wish I could be more specific, but once you finish the book you will understand!

I am really excited to watch the movie adaptation! I did overall enjoy it! I just knocked off a star because it was so hard to get through! I am currently reading "Sharp Objects" by Gillian Flynn, so hopefully this one will resonate with me a little more!
