I enjoyed reading about the roaring twenties and the era of prohibition, speakeasies, and mobsters. After Minnie's mother dies during childbirth and her father is sent to prison, she and her brother Max are left with the responsibility of caring for their two baby sisters. With no high school diploma and the promise of Max finishing college, they are left with nothing. With no money, no good job, Minnie and Max are left with some impossibly difficult decisions to make. Minnie finally decides to takeover the speakeasy that her once belonged to her father. Then the money starts rolling in, but not soon enough.

Historical fiction continues to be my favorite genre.
