The Remarkable Journey of Coyote Sunrise by Dan Gemeinhart

5.0

Woah, hold on, let me dry my eyes! Holy smokes this book is so cute. So charming. SO fun. I love a good character driven novel and I fell in love with Coyote from the very first chapter when she gives that kid her slushie. She is unrealistically cool. No 12 year old is that charming and cool headed and funny. She’s the best.

This story hit me hard and I cried on and off for about the last hour of the book. I did listen to it on audio, so there I was folding laundry and wiping away my tears. Because I KNOW that feeling that she felt so deeply. When my dad passed away the whole world wanted to move on and pretend he never existed. Nobody wanted me to be sad about losing my dad. And I didn’t get anything of his. Not a journal, not a shirt, not even a picture. It was a mess. But things have made their way to me as I’ve gotten older. So here I am 21 years later and I am just holding pieces of paper that he and I both wrote on and they just mean the world to me. So I truly understood and was very emotionally invested in this story.

The writing is amazing. It’s fast paced and fun. I would recommend this book to any human who likes to read. It was very sweet with a satisfying ending too. So glad I read it.
