what i really needed was a short fast book to distract me for a couple of hours, and that was this book.

this book is solid if you just want a quick read. i didn't feel many things reading this, but there wasn't enough time to really feel. there were a few eloquent moments that did feel impactful, but most of this book is just words. unimpactful words

the main character is very drab, but i think that may be the point? we know she's closed off and lustful, thinks a lot but isn't very talkative, and sympathetic. i still wanted... more though. maybe i just shouldn't read short books

i liked the continuous vibe of death and rebirth. that was fun. but i didn't like when the book felt the need to spell it out for us. i didn't really like that the story of lilith was also outwordly explained... it would've been fun to leave something out for interpretation.

i really don't think there's a lot to think about with this book after it's done. it's a book, it had themes, you finish it, it's done.

6/10
i neither recommend nor don't recommend this book
