I think this is a really important read. Trauma is one of our biggest crises in the world, and dedicating resources to improving conditions for all children, traumatized adults, and caretakers (medical people, teachers, parents, politicians) will change and save lives. I also think this book helps build empathy for those experiencing trauma. It gave me a better understanding of how our brains work and why people respond or act the way they do. It also offered some fascinating solutions / methods of treatments. It might be a tough read for some between the intense stories of trauma and the dense descriptions of neurology.

My only negative would be that the book could’ve delved more into the societal and political aspects of trauma. Although, the epilogue talks about this concept beautifully, I wish it was brought up more throughout.
