A Very Bossy Christmas by Kayley Loring
5.0

An obnoxious workaholic lawyer meets with a very efficient bossy personal assistant. Both are gorgeous, both have strong personalities. Who won?

Declan Cannavale has an upcoming family wedding and the Christmas festivities coming up at his home state of Ohio. For some reason, he’s evading family time, but his sister and mother are burning up the phone, demanding he assist. And for some reason, he feels the need to bring a fake girlfriend with him. Who better than his extraordinary and very efficient assistant?

From the get go, you know these two are crazy about each other, but they’re stubborn and in denial. What better time than Christmas and lots of mistletoe nearby to make them get a move on their feelings?

This story was short but high on fun. These two have funny, witty conversations but the best ones are their text conversations. Maddy Cooper’s niece Piper frequently steals her aunt’s phone to text with Declan and she’s partly responsible for some of the hijinks. There’s also lovely Mrs. Pavlovsky, Maddy’s landlord in New York, who loves Declan and recognized the teddy bear under his prickly exterior. He’s generous but hides it, sentimental but will deny it, and utterly in love but convinced he’ll screw up.

I loved this story, had a lot of fun reading it and loved all the characters. It’s a great Scrooge type of story and the best thing is all the great characters around Declan who believe in him and his transformation from workaholic to beloved. Another thing I loved in this book were the funny titles of each chapter, they really established the mood of fun and irreverent!
