Rustic Hearts by Amber Kelly

4.0

Rustic Hearts made me fall in love with Stoneyridge Ranch and the charming small town of Poplar Falls. Everyone at the ranch is part of a big, welcoming family that loves no matter what, regardless of how much time has passed and what happened in the past.

Sophie is back for her grandmother's funeral after being away for 20 years. She is now a New Yorker, and it's fun to see her adapting to the life of a small town. While her grandad and her aunts welcome her with open arms, Sophie is weary of her dad and the family he now has. After all, she is still grieving the family she lost as a 12-year-old.

Braxton's dislike for Sophie is well-known. He sees her as a spoiled woman who, in 20 years, never took the time to visit her family. But, the more Braxton knows Sophie, the more intrigued and protective of her he gets.

It was endearing to watch them fall in love. My heart broke a little for Sophie as she discovered what had happened all those years ago. Sometimes, things do not seem what they seem. The whole family dynamics were spot on.

Kudos to Noah Michael Levine and Robyn Verne for bringing Sophie and Braxton to life. Their narration added an extra layer of awesomeness to the story.
