The Keeper's Codex: Ashen Memories by A.D. Wills

4.0

This is a fun and exciting fantasy adventure filled with original species and alluring places. The third person omniscient narration and multiple points of view allow the reader to discover various fascinating parts of the world and have a glimpse of different characters' lives and motivations. I didn't feel like I got to know any of the characters on a deep level, but all of them felt distinct in the ways they thought, spoke and behaved, and I didn't have trouble remembering who was who.

The book reminded me of an open world video game with characters going on exciting quests in a fascinating and complex world. It has an adventurous mood and is filled with kindness, but there is also real danger, loss and high stakes. Despite that, the book felt light and was easy to read.

The world and the story are layered, revealing more complexity as the plot progresses, and it left me with an impression there is much more to be discovered and explored.

You might enjoy the book if you are into epic fantasy, like books with multiple points of views and are looking for something light and adventurous to read.
