The Wind-Up Bird Chronicle
by Haruki Murakami
Swept away by this strange narrative about the dark subconscious, it so happened that we hung a print of a Salvador Dali painting "The Hallucinogenic Toreador" in our hallway. I can't help thinking about the similarities between Murakami's book and the surrealist painters. Things morph and change, the landscape is simultaneously beautiful and threatening, and I'm not really sure why but it's all riveting.
