Ten Thousand Stitches is the second book in the Regency Faerie Tales series, and I really enjoyed it. It deals with social topics in a great way and convinces with great characters.
Effie is working for a rich family where she one day meets Benedict and falls in love with him. To get him to love him, she asks the faerie Blackthorn for help. The vibes of the book are very cozy, but I enjoyed how, in comparison to the first book, social classes and classism are thematized here more intensively. This becomes clear especially in the way Effie is treated so differently when she seems to be a higher-class woman . Throughout the story, it was quite obvious that Benedict never truly loved her but I still loved how Effie came to this conclusion. The ending is so great as well with everyone leaving the family :
Looking at the characters, I really like Blackthorn. He’s quite charismatic and just a wholesome character. Throughout the novel, I really hoped that he would turn out to be a good guy since I like him so much. I also liked that his jealousy is cute instead of toxic. Effie is also such a likable character and I loved how she, at the end of the book, gets angry, we stan angry women in this household. It’s also such a great moment how she saves Lady Culver . The’re really cute together but I’m a bit sad though that we didn’t get a kiss scene at the end . I was so invested in their relationship and got quite emotional from time to time.
All in all, Ten Thousand Stitches was one of my favourite books of 2023. It’s one of those books that seemingly was just written for me lmao.
