I really love the Reacher series but Child's casual misogyny and sexism becomes harder and harder to read as the years go by. The book's plot centres on SA victims, and whilst it is handled with respect and dignity, Child's writes Reacher in a way that only perpetuates rape culture. His leering at women's breasts, his cheating on his partner, and the absolutely unnecessary sexualisation of women. Did numerous references to a FBI agent not wearing a bra and her breasts being visible add to the story? NO! At the end of the day, Reacher reflects Child's poor view of women.
