Like with all his works you have to be fine with the usual Steven King-isms, though this is far from the worst offender.

Going into the book and while reading it I had my doubts about how a more traditionally structured vampire narrative would hold up in a more modern context. In my opinion even the classic vampire narratives are less effective without the mystery of the vampire itself. The execution more than made up for it.

King did a fantastic job setting up the town as a character itself and the inhabitants felt real. The climax was tense and well written and honestly had me at the edge of my seat.

I would recommend this to anyone who wants a fantastic modern(ish) execution of a traditional vampire story.
