Shadow Kiss
by Richelle Mead
A 4 stars for a Vampire Academy book?! You must all be thinking that I'm possessed but I did really like this one because:
(1) Rose-I-Realized-That-I-Was-An-Immature-Brat-And-Have-Deeply-Changed Hathaway. I absolutely hated Rose in the first 2 books but I sensed change would happen ever since Frostbite. Well, I was right. She did change, not by a thousand miles but she definitely did jump a few inches. She now acts her age, she barely whines pathetically and no longer acts like a vain little princess. She also realized that using other people's feelings for you to get what you want is a crappy thing and is in fact very low so congratulations Miss Hathaway. You are no longer a jerk.
(2) Dimitri and Rose's relationship has finally moved beyond simple lust. Huzzah! In this book, they actually get to know each other and understand and support each other. They don't just look at each other and think about sex and how hot~damn they are. They actually see a person who will reach out into a pit of vipers for the other because of their love of that person. *wipes tears*

(3) The last 70 pages were amazing. I mean, sure, we all expected it so it was no big Heavenly Revelation but damn it was so great to watch it all unfold in action. SO much sadness, fights and nail-biting was written in those pages and boy, was it awesome.
However, everything has a bad side so reasons why I wanted to grab a knife and cut out some pages:
(1) Christian and Lissa's relationship gets reckoned with. Um no. They were the only ones I shipped with passion so do not touch them ever again.

(2) Adrian Ivashkov, aka very funny badass, suddenly felt like a minor character who just did nothing and appeared for the sake of appearing.
(3) SO MANY FREAKING INFODUMPS. I understand that you have to fill us in on past knowledge but could you at least be more discrete about it? This is basically how it was:
*Fancy Word appears* 3 paragraphs of info about this fancy word.
*A Character Glares* 2 paragraphs of Rose's relationship with said glaring character.
*Dimitri frowns about something* Story of Dimitri's life right before your very eyes.
It slowed the books down drearily and I was skipping whole paragraphs.
I'm actually looking forward to the 4th book after that deadly cliffhanger and, although I have a bad feeling Christian Ozera and Adrian Ivashkov will get less of a spotlight, I really do want to know what happens next.
