Aliens: Dead Orbit by James Stokoe

3.0

I didn't get this initially, and had to read it twice. It's a horror tale in a sci-fi universe, which is what all of the good Alien stories have always been. It doesn't really GO anywhere, per se, but it kind of doesn't have to, choosing instead to tell a story that's a tangent to the Alien Universe and so *of* them without being *about* them. It's tight and scary and nihilist and claustrophobic, and it reminds me of something that would have been in Savage Tales Magazine back in the day. Stokoe literally does everything here, and while his dialogue is weird, it's not unrealistic, and his art is fucking awesome.
