I really love the Brian's Saga world, there's something oddly comforting about it. Brian being back in the woods is fascinating, I love how he totally switches into survival mode the second he's back. The story was great but there were a lot of jumps, as in one minute he's on a river, the next he's safe, then the book is over. I wish there was more at the end where we go through the rescue and afterwards with Brian instead of hearing about it after the fact. But I do really enjoy how dark this series can get, when Brian has some upsetting thoughts it's really written well, and I appreciate mental health rep in middle grade books - especially PTSD.
But I love this series, Hatchet is such a nostalgic comfort read for me and I don't think anything will make me dislike it or the series. Really looking forward to the next one.
