Wow. This is a YA book? This is very graphic. I might just have a sensitive stomach but this book has such detailed descriptions of body horror that I have ever read. It’s also really dehumanizing in the content. Just oh my gosh it was so vile.

The plot was very intriguing from the get go, and kept my attention all the way throughout. The first half of the book is literally 5 stars out of 5. It was just perfect in terms of storytelling and graphic-ness.

Where I think it looses its full 5 star rating is a little way more than half. It starts to become a tad bit repetitive. At some points, I questioned and even was a tad annoyed at some of the actions both characters made. The book leads you into thinking it will continue to explore different settings, yet our main character kept going back and fourth when I wanted the story to develop. It almost felt like the author was stalling for time. Again, a lot of it felt like filler but it’s manageable to get through.

By climax of the book, it picks up again. I enjoyed the plot twists the book gave and it made a great set up to tease the sequel. Overall, I enjoyed this book a lot, the writing style was easy to connect too. Even though I felt like throwing up at some points, the plot is so captivating it’s hard to put it down.
