Lost in the Jungle by Yossi Ghinsberg
3.0

I feel like this is a case of "style vs substance," but where the usual case is too much style and not enough substance (ie flashy writing, not a lot to actually say), this book tends to be more in the realm of TONS of substance but not necessarily the greatest of style. It is more of a relay of events, a story of what happened; it offers nothing more and nothing less. While I do think there are times where there is an attempt at immersive writing, it is more of a good story to hear, one definitely filled with intense moments and anecdotal journal logs that do interest the reader, but lacks the complexity found, required even, in creative writing.

(I will say, I was not expecting the story to take so long to get to the actual "lost" part, it takes its time getting there by filling us in with the details of how we got to the jungle in the first place. Did I enjoy this build up? Surprisingly yes. I think he's lost less than 50% of the book, but thats ok. Still interesting.)
