The blurb on the cover really says it all. This IS the original game of thrones. Beautifully written and translated. Why didn’t they cover stuff like this in history class growing up?
Anyways, if you’re hesitant to read historical fiction(this was my first time checking out the genre) rest assured that this novel contains all the elements I was looking for: sorcery, political aversion, & royal incestuous relations but that’s not all.
I had to stop and pronounce all of the French names and such, but I think it really helped with my comprehension and retention. Plus it was fun to work on my own French accent! I wasn’t planning on it but, after reading the first installment, I have got to get the next one in the series.
