A Love Song for Ricki Wilde
by Tia Williams
“For a long time, I thought I knew what my calling was. My grand purpose. But when I met Ricki, I knew I was wrong. I was a fool, thinking that I was born to do anything grander than loving her.”
This is one that I soft DNF’d last year when it came out, but I am so glad I picked it back up!! And the audiobook was FANTASTIC!!
This was such a beautiful love story. Ricki and Ezra had undeniable chemistry from the start and I was drawn to them the same way they were drawn to each other. They have the “I’ve waited for you my whole life” type of love and Williams writes their story so beautifully. I never once questioned their love for each other. I just wish we’d gotten more of them falling in love with each other!!
I love how this was a love letter to Harlem in addition to being a love story. I really enjoyed the historical fiction element to this one and learned a lot about the Harlem Renaissance time period!
This is so different from the romances I usually read, but I think I found a new favorite sub genre in romance with magical realism?!
