The Weight of Ink
by Rachel Kadish
4.5 rounded up.
So, this is quite a book. The audiobook is just over 23 hours long, so plan to spend some time with this story. However, it's completely worth it. I won't rewrite a description of the book, but I will tell you my emotions ran the full spectrum with this novel, and I think it worked quite well. There was clearly a lot of research done ahead of time and the way that Kadish brings details to life in the 1600s London Jewish community is pretty spectacular. I enjoyed the dual timeline sequences and the bits of whodunit as well. I think one of my favorite aspects of this story is how it highlights a passion for history (or in this case herstory), and discovering the people, context and outside forces which brought it about.
