You're Never Weird on the Internet by Felicia Day

5.0

I have adored Felicia Day since the "day" ( no pun intended) that I first discovered this marvelous, quirky, low-quality web show called The Guild. When I discovered it, I was in middle school and was only discovering the world of video games and fantasy. I was in awe at how "cool" (or should I say uncool.. depending on who you ask) these characters were, with their fancy mics and headsets and unlimited access to their MMORPG of choice. My early teen self was instantly obsessed. I watched every episode that was currently out at the time over and over. I wanted nothing more than to be Codex.
Flash forward years later... I was browsing on Netflix and I discovered that that little two or three season web show that I loved had six seasons and was on Netflix... in all it's geeky glory!!!! I could've died with excitement. Thus began another cycle of watching and rewatching and rewatching The Guild over and over again. At this same time I started watching Supernatural, only to discover that the one and only Felicia Day had a role in some of the later seasons! I also discovered Geek and Sundry. It was all too exciting.
So you can imagine my joy when I learned that the amazing Felicia Day wrote a book! I tried to not get too excited so that I wouldn't be so disappointed when the book was boring. Guess what? I'M SO GLAD I GOT SO PUMPED BECAUSE THIS IS MY NEW FAVORITE MEMOIR. Day is flawless; effortlessly hilarious while also evoking emotion. It was an emotional rollercoaster that I wish I could go back and experience for the first time again. It wasn't like reading a celebrity memoir: I was just reading a memoir of some lady that's just like me and just so happens to be kind of sort of really famous.
I highly recommend every lover of video games, the internet, weirdness, and Felicia Day read this book. 5/5.
