Farmer Boy by Laura Ingalls Wilder
5.0
What I didn’t get from Little House in the Big Woods, I got from Farmer Boy.
The descriptions of their everyday life were so detailed that Almanzo must have walked Laura through it all step by step.
I was a little shocked that Laura included Almanzo’s father’s opinion that a farmer who uses a thresher is a lazy farmer, being that we learned in Little House in the Big Woods that Pa went in with other area farmers to use a thresher. Maybe she did it to be cheeky knowing that it is a normal practice.
My one piece of advice is not to read this one hungry. The food descriptions are out of this world!
