I'd ended up really loving Sage's Rebel Blue Ranch series and was excited to see what she did next, but unfortunately this really wasn't working for me. The characters just felt really all over the place and I couldn't get a sense of place or vibe like I did in her other books. I get that the whole point is that the main character needs to reconnect to her hometown, but I lost track of the amount of times she said over and over that she didn't want to be there and that she was sad to lose her ghost abilities. It just didn't feel like it was going anywhere and I'm afraid I didn't care to find out what happened next, which is always the sign to me that I need to DNF.
