Peach Blossom Debt by Da Feng Gua Guo
4.0
funny lighthearted relaxing slow-paced
Plot or Character Driven: Character
Strong character development: No

Look this is a good book. The writing is witty, the translation is smooth, the characters are fun. Song Yao is the answer for anyone who read SVSSS and wanted to murder Shen Qingqiu the whole time for being an idiot. Similar tone, similar vibes in how they interact with the world--outwardly very elegant and refined, internally ranting about it. This is a perfectly good book. What I'm about to say is not a reflection on the actual quality of the book.

That said, this bored me to fucking tears. I'm not built for romcoms and this is a xianxia romcom. There's like 40 total pages of Serious Content in this bad boy and every single one was like a sip of water to sustain me on this intolerably pleasant journey. This book is perfect starter danmei material for its light tone, firm PG rating, and uncomplicated character dynamics (although good lord, I've been judgemental of Seven Seas making all their books 20 pages longer with their glossary and I take it back, I'm so sorry, I needed a layout of all the immortal titles SO badly, so maybe not FIRST danmei material). This book is so soft it affected my homeostasis and I need to be put in the horror fan version of a hyperbaric chamber. I'm just intensely NOT the target audience of this and I need to go read something fucked up to restore my internal equilibrium.
