I've been hearing alot of praise for this book which I think mostly came from the release of James by Percival everett so I had to read.

It has its charm and it has its moments and I can see why people love this book, but for me the language and writing just took me out of it. Yeah it had to do with the setting and the time it takes place in but the moments of childhood mischief and adventure were just drowned out by the language to me.

When Tom was around I feel the book found its footing and I found him way more interesting than Huck even tho hes barely in the book. He brought that childhood innocence and adventure that I wanted out of this book and just for him alone I'll give it slightly above 3 stars.

The book was just okay if you can look past the language tho I think you'd really love the book but for me thats just what set it back.
