The Climb: Tragic Ambitions on Everest by Anatoli Boukreev

4.0

I was so close to not finishing the book about 20% in. The writing is so factual that it was extremely boring and dense. The whole mountain bit should've had more detail, I was a bit lost as well. Only half the book is about the mountain and what happened and then it's the drama that followed. I became so invested in Anatoli and his story and felt how slighted he was. This book made me go through a rabbit hole, watching the Everest movie, researching into Jon and why he would have such a vendetta against Anatoli. It's a slow build but, I learned a lot and got extremely invested!
P.S. I really don't see the appeal to climbing Everest.
