Read years ago but the impression lasted so much I'm writing a review anyway.

A very well written, incredibly emotional and intense portrait of a protagonist with debilitating trauma and PTSD, struggling through an investigation into several brutal murders of young girls in her home town, only to find the mystery inextricably linked to what she experienced as a young girl at the hands of both the town and her abusive mother.

Please god check the content warnings - as I described it shortly after reading it, "I really liked it! It made me feel like I was being set on fire!" - it's one of those books that I liked at least in part BECAUSE of how much it triggered me.
