This is a standalone book featuring characters from the authors Killers Next Door series. However I felt I missed a lot due to not having read the series before reading this one.

The story is an ok one. Natalie has suffered loss in her life recently, and Mac seems to understand. He comforts her and looks after her during a party. The next day they discover that everything has changed more than either could imagine.

That sets in motion a chain of events which did keep my attention, but at times seemed a little too rushed.

The relationship between Natalie and Mac is nice, but at times it feels like Mac is trying to rush Natalie into making decisions and sharing their happiness.

There are a good few twists and turns to the story, turning it from a romance into something of a suspenseful romance. That helped to keep my attention throughout the story.

I feel as if I definitely missed something from not reading the previous books in the series as it would have helped know the background of the characters. The story though is a good one and well worth a read.
