This book came on my radar because Jenny Eclair was on Taskmaster, and she mentioned it in one of the episodes. The Writing on the Wall is just as wonderfully strange as she is. It is surprisingly slow-paced, until the last 10% of the book, when a lot happens quite suddenly. So the pacing is a bit off. Helena is totally insufferable in the way that self-centered and self-conscious people can be. I wish there had been more of Hermione. Really, I wish the beginning had been shorter and the ending had been longer. The middle bit was perfect. Love me some timey-wimey shit
