Okay so I dismissed this one as just a "booktok book" back when it was super popular on tiktok during lockdown but I then picked it up because a friend read it and I am so glad. The main character is interesting and relatable, but not in a forced way, and the plot is so engaging that I read it in under two days. I was always desperate to know what was going to happen next, and the author revealed just enough every few pages to keep me hooked. The last hundred or so pages were a series of plot twists, but in a way that felt purposeful. That is to say the slight foreshadowing made sure that the twists didn't feel out of nowhere, but were also shocking and fun. I'd also say that the romance was balanced just right, because the mystery and plot was the main focus but the love story was fun little edition that kept the very few slower chapter interesting. Also, the love interest is better "book boyfriend" than 95% of tiktok "book boyfriends". Probably one of my favorite ever "booktok books" and definitely worth a read!
