This was a fun, exciting trip into a school specializing in (food pun-filled) monster battles and cooking techniques, following Hana and Bobby — two friends from the far-away archipelago — who are some of the first students from their islands to attend the masterful Gourmand Academy of Culinary Combat.

We follow them as they meet their classmates, develop crushes, and partake in some not-so-friendly rivalries throughout their first year at the academy.

This was *fun*! Reminiscent of other action-packed manga/graphic novel series (My Hero Academia, Food Wars, Nemona, etc.) with brilliant colors and gorgeous illustrations of food that’s sure to make you hungry! The characters were flawed but lovable, working through new environments and dealing with new emotions and stress that come with high school drama and monster school mishaps.
