This book had no business being this good.
As the fourth installment in a sports romance series, with a slow burn, that clocks in at over 500 pages, I didn’t expect to be so thoroughly drawn in. But from the very beginning, the story surprised me in all the best ways.
Teddy and Henrik’s love story has the perfect chemistry of real-life struggles, convenient plot points, with just enough romantic whimsy to make you audibly sigh. I was charmed. I was invested. I found myself rooting for moody, jealous Henrik.
Not to mention the spice? Chef’s kiss. The kind filth that made me feel like a kid sneaking a peek at the dictionary’s “bad words” section. No notes, just a lot of shameless giggling.
If I’m being picky, the ending drags a little, but honestly, I didn’t want to say goodbye to Teddy and Henrik anyway, so I didn’t mind. The first 80% is especially beautifully paced and full of heart. A surprisingly great read that was queer, sexy, and romantic in all the best ways.
Third-act breakup? Thankfully no!
Happily ever after? Yup.
Graphic: Dementia
