If you've ever lived in Atlanta and are amenable to urban fantasy, you'll enjoy this post-apocalyptic magical take on what's basically a film noir mystery. This book does a great job setting up the world-building for a series while also completing the story in this book (not always done these days!). I really enjoyed Kate and the other characters. The story kept me thinking, and there are clearly some mysteries left to solve, even though the main mystery of this book was finished. It was a large cast of characters, and listening to the audiobook did make it a little hard to keep track of who was who and affiliated with which organization, but overall a great listen/read!
The authors incorporate mythology from diverse settings in a fun and unique way, but there are some darker elements, though they aren't described in too much detail, so if violence,<spoke>sexual assault or animal abuse is difficult for you to read, you can skim those elements without missing anything.
