Speaker for the Dead by Orson Scott Card

5.0

I do not know why it has taken me 25 years and a husband who finally bought it on Audible to read this book, but what a story! I am once again floored by the artful storytelling of Orson Scott Card. In this novel, I so appreciated the depth of questions around good/evil, life/death, right/wrong that he wrestled with and how he allowed the messiness of creation and human relationships to be exposed and simply left unresolved. The characters, motivations, relationships, hopes and dreams revealed throughout this novel are so honest and so steeped in humanity and apparently it was exactly what I needed in this moment of my life. An entertaining and thought-provoking read...as always with Scott Card.
