Magic Bites
by Ilona Andrews
4 stars. I don't know why this series was never on my radar until the last book came out this year but I have to say I hate that I'm late to the party. This was awesome.
This was my first Ilona Andrews book and I can definitely see why they have such a hardcore and dedicated fanbase. The writing is great and the book starts off on some really fun action. Besides the characters, the action scenes were my favorite part of this. They were really well done and a lot of fun to read.
Kate Daniels is a badass and right from the beginning I loved her. She's tough, kickass, smart, witty and she takes shit from no one. Talk about being my hero. I loved her.
Curran has all of the potential in the world to be a book boyfriend but the verdict is still out on him. He was definitely intriguing and I liked him but I just don't know yet. I think I need to learn more about him first. He's a cool character but something that I can't put my finger on is just...off.
Anyways, this was awesome. There's a lot of world building in this which makes sense but I feel like the next book is going to be more focused on the characters and their relationships and I'm excited about that.
